Children and young people aged 0-17 across Rotherham will have access to free swimming sessions at all four Places Leisure centres throughout the six-week summer holiday period, starting Monday 20 July.
The initiative aims to help families stay active and build water confidence during the school break. Adults accompanying children will need to pay the standard admission charge. Young people aged 8 and over who meet Places Leisure admission requirements can attend without an accompanying adult.
Splash Sessions Also Available
Free inflatable splash sessions will run throughout the summer holidays at venues across Rotherham, providing additional water-based activities for younger children.
Making Swimming Accessible
Councillor Lynda Marshall, Cabinet Member for Waste Services, Leisure and Green Spaces, said: "We want every child in Rotherham to have the chance to enjoy swimming this summer, regardless of their family's circumstances. Swimming is a fantastic way to stay active and build confidence in the water."
The scheme expands on existing free swimming support offered through the Council's Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme for children eligible for free school meals. Children and young people who already receive free swimming through a Places Leisure membership can continue to access sessions as usual.

Session times, booking arrangements and further swimming offers are available through Places Leisure and the Council's website and social media channels. Families are advised to check availability before travelling, as some sessions may be particularly popular.
