A Rotherham cafe owner's act of kindness towards two young friends has attracted global attention after a video of the encounter went viral online.
Nine-year-olds Jacob and Louie visited the Scran Cafe in Herringthorpe with 50p less than they needed to pay for a small breakfast. Owner Nick Stewart decided to give them each a meal on the house.
Nick recalled the moment: "The guys were stood there counting their pennies and I just thought, what an opportunity to give something back to the community."
Louie's mum Gemma said her son "came back home and he was really over the moon with the gesture".
Video Attracts International Attention
The video of the encounter spread widely online, drawing comments from viewers as far away as New Zealand, Australia and the United States.
Jacob's mum Chloe said the pair had been "loving" their new-found fame during the summer break. Jacob said: "All my friends we play out with have seen it and are like, 'Oh my God, is that Jacob and Louie?'"
Donations Support Local Community
The viral moment prompted donations to the cafe. Nick used some of that money to make sausage sandwiches for homeless people in the local community. Jacob and Louie helped to distribute them.
Nick said: "The guys' reaction to accepting the free breakfast was so wholesome, I just wanted to create more of those moments."
Louie added: "We already knew we'd had stuff like that, so it's nice to give back to those who need it."
