A 19-year-old Rotherham United supporter is preparing to climb North Africa's highest mountain and take on a full-distance Ironman to raise money for two local charities.

Ollie Slack, a lifelong Millers fan and season-ticket holder, plans to climb Mount Toubkal in Morocco in March 2027 before tackling IRONMAN Leeds later in his fundraising programme.

His appeal will support Rotherham United Community Trust and Rotherham Hospice. The fundraiser has a £1,000 target.

Mount Toubkal stands 4,167 metres high. The full-distance triathlon Ollie is preparing for consists of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile cycle and a 26.2-mile marathon run.

Inspired by the Millers community

Ollie said he was inspired by the support for the Game of the Century charity football match at the end of the 2025/26 season, which brought the two organisations together.

He expects his training to involve early mornings, late nights and difficult weather, but hopes his individual effort can make a similar positive impact.

Rotherham United Community Trust said the donations would support its work using sport and the club's badge to create opportunities for local people. Rotherham Hospice provides specialist palliative and end-of-life care and support for patients and families across the borough.

Emma Schofield, the trust's director of development, praised Ollie's determination and said it was encouraging to see the community spirit of the charity match continuing through his fundraising.

Emily Stephenson, from Rotherham Hospice, thanked him for choosing to support both organisations and wished him well with the challenges.

The charities are inviting Millers supporters, local businesses and the wider community to support Ollie as he prepares.

Donations can be made through Ollie's Toubkal & IM Leeds fundraising page on givestar.
